Yoga & Hiking Excursion: Get Back to Nature

Ready to try yoga or take your yoga out of the studio and into the open air?

Ready to get into nature and embrace the vibrant, inspiring energy of spring?

Ready to connect with the truest part of you, that part that embodies your highest potential?

***

If you’re ready, then join me for an empowering morning of hiking, yoga & meditation!

Expand your community and nourish your body, mind and soul!

There is no better time than the springtime to get outside, breath in the fresh air, and soak up all Mother Nature has to offer.

Your excursion will include an easy to moderate 2.5-mile loop hike and a 60-minute gentle flow yoga practice with nature-inspired guided meditation.

We’ll hike for about 25-30 minutes to get to our yoga destination and then enjoy our yoga surrounded by trees and open sky before continuing to hike the loop to return back to our starting location.

***

Our gentle flow yoga practice will provide a perfect mid-hike stretch & bring a sense of openness & balance to our bodies, as well as give us a chance to rest & rejuvenate while basking in the energy of spring in the forest.

We will move with our breath, connect with the power of nature, practice being fully aware in the present moment and tap into our truest self, the center of our being, our source of inner wisdom, strength and peace.

What to Bring:

  • Yoga Mat

  • Optional towel for underneath your mat (to prevent dirt build-up. Tip: roll it up with your yoga mat for ease of transport)

  • Jacket/External Layer in case you get too cool/warm

  • Shoes suitable for hiking on gravel/rocky surface)

  • Water (Recommend at least 24oz per person)

  • A light snack

Important Things to Know:

  • All yoga & hiking levels welcomed. The trails are rated easy to moderate. Be prepared for uneven terrain and one moderately steep incline with the rest of the trail being relatively flat and easy walking.

  • Dress in layers. It may still be cool in the morning but we will warm up once we start moving and may cool back down during relaxation.

  • Please arrive ~10-15 minutes early to check in with Brigid and give yourself a chance to arrive in the present moment, use the restroom if needed and perhaps make a new friend to enjoy the hike with!

  • The hike will take place in the Manheim/Mount Gretna area, and the exact meeting location for the hike will be disclosed with ticket purchase (you will receive an email with all the specifics shortly after purchase.)

  • In the case of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Saturday, May 16th. Participants will be notified as early as possible (up to one day prior to and no later than 2 hours before expected event time if changes are anticipated.) Tickets can also be refunded per request if participants cannot attend the rain date event.

Restorative Yoga with Aromatherapy

Restorative Yoga with Aromatherapy

Join us for a relaxing evening at Kelli’s Oil Room in lovely Mount Joy! Restorative Yoga is an excellent way to unwind, destress, and recharge your battery during the busy holiday season. Clinical research into restorative yoga has even found that it can even decrease depression and improve symptoms of anxiety and pain.

Props like blankets, blocks and bolsters are used extensively to support your body so you can hold reclined and seated poses for longer periods of time, sometimes up to ten minutes, to allow your muscles to completely relax into stillness and your mind to rest.

Restorative classes are very mellow, making them a great complement to more active fitness and yoga practices (as well as our modern, busy lives) and are an excellent antidote to everyday stress.

The evening will weave the restorative poses with carefully selected essential oils at particular moments in the class. Scents may include lavender, orange, peppermint and lemon, but are subject to change. Combining this slow practice with the power of essential oils doubles down on the therapeutic benefits and will leave you feeling calm and centered.

All props will be provided with the exception of yoga mat - please bring your own yoga mat (or blanket), as there will only be a few extra mats available for use. Feel free to bring also your favorite blanket, wear your warmest socks and your coziest sweatshirt or sweater to stay warm, as this practice tends to leave you feeling cooler since there is little movement and longer holds on the poses.

Investment: $17 before December 16th, $20 on the day of event

Where: Kelli’s Oil Room, 51 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA

Who’s this class for? Anyone interested in yoga and essential oils! Beginners encouraged and welcomed! No yoga experience necessary. Your only requirement is being able to get down on the floor safely - you’ll be there for the entirety of class. :)

Balance & Brunch in the Barn: A Fall Yoga Retreat

The Yoga Experience proudly announces the second annual Fall Yoga Retreat at Abundant Harvest Farms! We are thrilled to present this retreat-style yoga offering. Please consider this an invitation to MAKE time for you! It’s an invitation to slow down, nourish your body and mind, and connect with your community through yoga, meditation and fresh, organic farm-to-table, food.

Nestled in the heart of a pecan orchard and surrounded by 40-acres of green pastures, Abundant Harvests farm is located in Baker County, 30 minutes west of Jacksonville, FL. The day starts at 9AM in the barn with a welcome from Abundant Harvest owners, Calvin and Caria Hawkins. After learning about the farm, Brigid & Steve will co-lead an incredibly grounding 90 minutes of gentle, yin-based yoga session leaving your body and mind relaxed and rejuvenated. Yin yoga is great for beginners, advanced practitioners, athletes, pretty much everyone!

After yoga, it’s time to eat! Enjoy a delicious, vegetarian brunch, including farm-to-table dishes and other yummy treats! Beverages will include Abundant Harvest’s own pecan-roasted coffee, an assortment of organic teas, and water.

After brunch, enjoy a walk about the farm, a few quiet moments overlooking the pond, or lying in the grass staring up at the gorgeous pecan trees. We’ll end the day with a second gentle yoga practice that concludes with an ancient guided meditation called Yoga Nidra. The technique allows us to enter a deep state of meditation (“yogic sleep”) and helps us release muscular, mental, and emotional stress. It is truly a transformative practice.

What to Bring:

Yoga Mat/Towel

Comfortable shoes (for walking, if you choose)

Jacket (depending on weather)

Water bottle (we will have water available but bringing your own container is earth-friendly and greatly appreciated!)

On the Day of Event:

Parking areas will be marked accordingly.

We have a full experience planned for you starting at 9am, so please consider arriving an extra 10-15 minutes to allow for parking, check-in and getting settled.

We hope you’ll join us down on the farm for a day of yoga, food, friends & relaxation! See you there!

Sun, Moon & Stars: A Summer Solstice Yoga Celebration

Come join us at Black Cat Yoga for a special evening celebrating the summer solstice! The solstice is the longest day of the year, where we experience the most daylight and embrace the warmth of summer. We gather to acknowledge the light of consciousness within each of us, as well as harness the power of the sun as it moves through its highest position.

This expertly sequenced practice includes a dynamic solar flow to stimulate warmth in the body which seamlessly transitions into a restorative lunar sequence to balance the heating energy of the sun with the cooling energy of the moon. The practice will end with a guided yoga nidra meditation that will take you on a journey among the stars to experience deep relaxation in your body, mind & spirit.

This practice is designed for all levels and will be led by Brigid Maryland Murphy, local yoga teacher & herbalist. Brigid’s passion for yoga & meditation is combined with her love of nature to provide you with a grounding, balancing evening of yoga bliss. After class, stay to enjoy a cooling herbal tea infusion, formulated by Brigid to support your body during the warm summer nights ahead.

Yin Yoga with Live Cello

Yin Yoga with Live Cello

Join us for this unique and powerful musical experience which will combine a 75-minute Yin Yoga practice with the full and resonant sounds of LIVE cello music being played by our guest musician, Sam Shin.

The rich vibrational sounds of this extraordinary and complex instrument will provide the perfect ambiance for a deep and inward meditative journey, creating one fluid experience of weaving together conscious breathing, mindfulness, and stillness.

Brigid Murphy will be guiding this more passive Yin Yoga practice, which involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, targeting mostly the lower body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, and lower spine.  Longer holds work to unwind and release the body’s deeper layers of fascia, an effective complement to a more dynamic Yang practice.

Sam Shin is a talented and dynamic local musician who is well-known for his unique improvisation-style of playing.  This fluidity, combined with his deep knowledge of music theory, allows him to adapt and synchronize the bellowing notes that emanate from his cello with the energy in the room, culminating in a free-flowing and harmonious experience for all.

Sam offers his musical gift on a donation basis.  Please consider offering him a “love” offering as an expression of gratitude and appreciation for his generosity and energy.  This class is accessible and appropriate for both beginners and long-time practitioners. All are welcome! If you want to ensure your space in the room, sign up in advance. Regular class rates apply. Drop-in classes are $15.

***Please note that our events and classes begin and end on time; and to ensure the safety and comfort of our attendees, presenters, and staff, late entries are not permitted.
