Private Yoga + Meditation
Private yoga + meditation instruction can be one of the best ways to begin, return to or advance your experience with yoga.
As a yoga student first, teacher second, I understand the challenges that can come up for us when beginning or maintaining a yoga practice or returning after a hiatus.
(Apprehension. Unease. Doubt. Anxiety. Guilt. Can you relate?)
While a yoga practice calms all of these, we have to first get on the mat to experience the relief yoga can provide.
If you’ve been curious about starting a yoga practice or wondering if yoga is for you (spoiler alert: it is), there is no better time than the present.
You deserve this meaningful time for you.
Private instruction might be just what you’re looking for if:
You’re new to yoga and want to learn correct postures without getting intimidated or feeling nervous by group setting
You want to begin a meditation practice but find it hard to start or haven’t developed your practice like you hoped
You want to incorporate yoga in your weight-loss or strength training program
You want to develop an at-home meditation or yoga practice
You have a specific health issue (like arthritis, depression, insomnia, cancer, anxiety, chronic pain) or injury (knee, shoulder, back) and want to learn proper modifications and safe poses
Your schedule doesn’t allow you to make studio class times or the class you want
You want to deepen your yoga practice and work towards specific goals (e.g. balance, stamina, strength)
You want to improve flexibility or chronic body tightness (tight hips, hamstring, backbends)
You’ve had a break from the mat and want to ease yourself back in
what to expect
AT Your Introductory session, we will talk about:
Your personal health history, prior yoga experience, and current lifestyle (of course, you are only expected to share what you are comfortable with)
What you are looking to receive from private yoga instruction (increased flexibility, stress relief, relaxation, confidence to join group classes, advanced poses/breathing techniques, guided meditation instruction, etc)
When and where sessions will take place (note additional fee may apply based on location)
Any yoga poses you love (or don’t love) to ensure your practice is tailored to your liking (you don’t have to know this upfront, especially if you’re new - we’ll learn as we go)
Yoga props (mat, blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps, eye pillows) are provided at the intro session, but for your best experience, it’s recommended to purchase a few basics to support your home practice
During Each private session:
We’ll review what we talked about previously and check in with how you’re feeling that day
Your session will be a customized blend of physical postures and movement (asana), breath exercises (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana), based on your goals and needs
Expect personalized alignment and verbal cues, and if you choose, hands-on adjustments & assists to deepen your experience
Feel comfortable to share what you’re feeling during the practice and what thoughts come up (if you wish)
